Just wondering in a general sense why my watch seems to run only face up, not face down ? Any help. Thanks, Bill

Bill, Probably something amiss with the lower balance jewel or pivot causing it to bind up the balance in the face down position. Steve

Thanks Steve, Actually it seems to be working now. Just received it in the mail. Seeing as its working now, probably was as a result of the -30 degree weather it just came out of. Thanks again, Bill

At 30 below most things don't twist or turn very well, the sound of an engine groaning, shocks going thud when you hit a bump because the fluid has turned to gel, the poor watch movement screaming "don't wind me, don't wind me"!!!!!!

Claude, I have to agree with the synopsis you stated, even I don't turn, move, shuffle well at these temps. I must admit though that before the watch was wound it had been inside for an hour or so, hopefully warmed a bit, but good advice about not winding etc when really cold. Thanks for the input, Bill

This cold weather snap, doesn't do much for shipping melamine dials, it was a nice dial when shipped, but this is a condition it arrived in.

That is too bad Larry, I had thought about the cold doing that. Tom

I would also expected it to have warmed up after an hour or so but I thought I would toss some below zero humor in, I grew up in northern Ohio and lived around Flint Michigan for six years so I vividly remember the sound of the engine and the feel of the shocks when the temp dropped below zero. Nothing negative was intended in the humor other than the negative temperature.

Claude, I also took it in the good humor as it was intended, but it still is a good lesson. Thanks, Bill

I feel sorry for Larry, knowing how hard it is to find nice dials and to have the temperature really mess a nice dial up would be hard to take. I used to travel to Winnipeg to see one of our wholesalers and it seem that every time I was there it was in mid winter, but I did get to see the Jets (hockey team) twice before they were moved.

Claude: I was really surprised to see the damage, but I've learned a very valuable lesson from this. Winnipeg is still hoping to get another NHL team, and here in southern Alberta we enjoy watching the Calgary Flames, that ironically came from Atlanta, growing up as a kid here in the cowtown of Calgary I would have never dreamed we would ever have an NHL team, let alone win a Stanley Cup, and we keep on cheering "Go Flames Go" Larry
