Hi Folks,
I bought this at a Flea Market and was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about it, how many were m,ade and the value of it? I can't seem to find any info on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Leonard

This is a corrected reply; Page 13 of Ehrhardt's "Waltham Identification and Price Guide has an early Waltham Magazine ad that lists the 23J Vanguard Non-Magnetic model at $72.00 (in 1900 dollars) vs. $54.00 for the "Normal" 23J Vanguard mdl 1892. Also Ehrhardt noted the value of this at $160.00 in 1980's dollars v.s. $70-90 for the regular type. The current price guide has nothing at all on aany 21 or 23J Non-Mag Vanguards and is mixed up showing a non-magnetic 17J mdl 92 at $125, or $200.00 depending where you look.

Going by Ehrhardt's more learned approach showing a 100% higher valuation than the regular Movement for this Non Magnetic variant, the Collector value of this with the correct Double-sunk dial should be at least $500-$700.00 exclusive of the case. (MY opinion only from what I have researched)

As far as quantity is concerned, I would expect this is at least a "1 Star" Rare movement.

thanks lawrence,
dave mentioned that if it had the correct dial,
i know that the model 92 dial had their own placement for the dial feet and dont interchange with many others. the dial on this watch has all three feet and line up as they should. so i am wondering if this dial is wrong ,what other watch does it fit ?
thanks
leonard

Nice looking Vanguard Leonard! The dial is off of a much newer '92 model. That will only fit other '92 models.Yours most likely had a double sunk Arabic with red 5-Minute marks, probably got replaced somewhere along the line.Best regards, Ted.

I will second Ted's comments. It is possibly a seconds sunk factory replacement dial with the "butler ring" painted & fired on to appear as a DSD.
