This watch belonged to my great grand father and has been in our house for quite a while, and now im starting to get interested in these old watches. I would like to know about on information pertaining to this timepiece. I know the year of manufacture was around 1919, but I don't know much else. There are two pictures, they aren't very good, but you can still see the watch. Thank you for any information. The serial number is 3562497.

Hi Matt, welcome to the forum. You're watch should be a 16 size 17 jewel, open face, model 7, Grade 304, from the serial number given. I will let far more knowledgable people chime in here with further information on your Illinois watch, Bill

More info for you. Your watch was one of 69,800 made and the date of manufacture is ~1919 as you already have found. It was "unadjusted" which means is was not guaranteed from the factory to keep the same time in all positions and hot and cold temperatures - so not a railroad grade watch.
With the wavy striped damaskeening pattern, gold plated train wheels, and gilded screws it is quite a nice movement. I love Illinois pocket watches because of the sheer variety of types available. Looks like you have a winner.

Thanks for the info. I know this is probably a loaded question, but just out of curosity, what is this watch worth? I could never sell something like this, but I would like to know. Thanks for the info, it has been very helpful.
