It runs and it is key wound. I don't know how many jewels as I have not taken it apart to count them. It is Swiss but I can't make out the fancy writing. I think it is either "Elan Watch Co." or "Plan Watch Co.". It has an Elephant stamped below the winding mechanism. S/N 1005444.

The cross mark means it is swiss patent (?) and manufacture. The "circle" of Wheel train jewels suggests the wheel trian is about a size 12 set. These were quite fragile. If the Balance wheel has equidistant spaced Balance weights, and no cut, it is a fairly low grade swiss fake.

Thank you David. The balance wheel appears to be cut at first glance but it is just grooved to give the appearance of an American cut balance wheel. You have confirmed my suspicions. Thank you.

Harry these Swiss peddlers watches seem to have been imported by a wholesale house in New York and sold under that Plan name to the East Central part of the country as they show up in Ohio and similar states every so often. I have seen a few and they all seem to be lower cost Swiss and always broken!

Thank you Deacon. Well here is one which is not broken. I guess that makes this one very rare doesn't it. (LOL)

Frown That's all right I don't have very many valuable watches anyway so I'm use to that. It is Swiss anyway and I don't collect Swiss watches so I guess it's off to the bay.
