I have been sent this interesting early Ball Longines for repair/restoration.
He has contacted Longines and received the response below.
Movement is approximately size 12, marked "Swiss" on lower plate.
Dial feet line up etc.
can anyone add more information.
Got a old dusty book on the shelf.

Will also be needed a case if anyone has one/or examples.
(the watch is not for sale he wishes to keep for his own collection)

"We thank you for contacting us and for your interest in Longines watches.
Further to your request, we are pleased to provide the information contained in Longines' handwritten registers.
Originally, the serial number 805837 identifies a Longines mechanical manually wound movement, caliber 17AT. It was invoiced on 25 July 1896 to the company Longines-Wittnauer, which was at that time our agent for the USA.
The other parts of the watch were produced locally under license from Longines.
Finally, we do not know the meaning of the B engraved"

That "B" Chris is a very poor engraving, not done by Ball (IMHO)or the Longine's Factory. Other then that do not know much about it.

Hi Guys,
sorry slow to respond, still have a house full of Christmas guests.
The "B" not showing well in phot willget better photo, its a very deep stamp/engraving, and will get measurements, I tested it in a s12 case, fit in back of case tight, lower plate almost seems smaller and no lip, dial sits flush, about 1/3 or more thicker than case's I tried.
