Check out this Calligraphy Dial 23 Ruby Jewel Sangamo....

Had hairlines all around outer chapter...soaked it in 5 min Polident bath for 10 minutes, then gave it a 3-4 min ammonia/dawn bath in the ultrasonic...

came out almost perfect!

I've never seen this dial before...anybody
own one like this? Neat find...

Tom, That is a gorgeous dial. I tell ya, an old dial in a bath of polident or liquid comet does wonders for dials.. I would love to see a pic of the movement (I want a 23 jewel, just got to sell off a kidney to get one Big Grin )

I suspect the dial is too new for this watch, as it should be Gothic lettered, but just looks so **** good on it I'll leave it.

I would guess maybe a 19J 60 Hr Bunn might have had this one, or possibly a 16S Sangamo Special from the late teens to the mid 1920s.

That's what's so neat about Illinois Watch Collecting. There is always something new surfacing to amaze and enjoy.

These Getty Sangamo's were the final trimmings before Illinois went to the 2-wheel designs. I hold these are the mose beautiful and functional American watch Designs of that time!

Very interesting variant dial Tom. I would think you're assessment is "almost" correct, as it's a getty dial for a getty movement Smile A really bold dial with Illinois in an arc Eek Cool

bb
