Seth Thomas 18 size question "Click" to Login or Register
posted
For the Seth Thomas collectors I picked up a 18s private label 18s with the serial number 80125 that is one of the early models. It is marked Adjusted, Safety Pinion, with a patent regulator. I see 3 jewel set on the back plate but the center wheel is not jeweled. If I added 6 jewels to the 7 in the balance I end up with 13 but I am not familiar with early Seths so it might be 15j since I really can't see Seth Thomas taking the time to adjust a 13j during this time frame. Any comments and replies would be appreciated.

Guess it is an early to mid run model 2 hunter (400 made) with 15 jewels. Since it is marked as a private label Railway special with 15 jewels, adjusted, with patent regulator it would be one of the early RR approved watches like early Elgin and Waltham 15 jewel versions.
