Hi all-- anyone out there who can clean and oil a 1939 era Ingersoll dollar watch?? I picked up a scarce Donald Duck character pocket watch. It's not a wreck. No rust, good balance. Just hasn't ticked in who knows how many years.

Hi William, you should be able to tackle this as they are very simply put together. Once you have the movement out of the case, take care in removing the hands to not damage dial, then remove dial and clean and oil. Because these are cheap dollar watches the oiling isn't much. Wipe off any access oil at the pivots and place the dial back on and see if it'll wind. You can take this watch to a good jeweller, but it'll cost a bit, so if you can do it yourself and keep the hands and dial damage free you will not only save a few bucks but enjoy your collectable just that much more. Take care, Roland. R. Glenn
