I have an 18s Anti-magnetic watch company, 15 jewel watch. with the Pailard's patent. Serial number 33137. Any one have any information on this watch as too production number? What years in business and who bought the patent or company? Thanks Bill

The "Antimagnetic" watches named "Paillard's Patent" were contracted by Paillard to many different American AND Swiss Watch manufacturers who he licensed to use his non-magnetic Hairspring material in their production for (evidently)his resale. The Below pictured the dial and movements of (upper left) 16s Elgin, (upper right, lower left) 16s Omega and (lower right) 18s Peoria Watch Co. produced; "Paillard Non-Magnetic watch Co. of America" watches are a few of his examples that passed through my collection and give evidence to this large variety of Paillard marked watches. Pictures are needed to shed more light on the history of your particular specimen.

Thank you David. Mine is just like the 18s you have pictured only mine is nickel finish. Gorgeous piece of fine workmanship. Bill

If yours is the Peoria type, you have a very rare watch indeed which if in decent condition deserves restoration for sure. It is said that some parts of these 18s Peoria movements were Swiss-made. On the other hand so were many other watchmaker's parts of the mid-late 1800's (including Waltham, Seth Thomas, Elgin, Hampden, etc., etc.). However Peoria was among the very first who finished movements for Paillard.
