Yes that is a diamond! This s/n 12030804 is a 300 PC run just following 200 Bridge Models. I was fussing so much tonight it did not "go back together". More soon. PENDANT SETTING!

This is another 'oddity' to me, Dave. Why a pendent set on this model watch? I have a pendent set 21j Waltham Crescent Street that, if not for the pendent setting, would be a railroad approved standard watch. It meets all the requirements to make it so but for the setting mechanism. Why make one? I'd ask the same with your watch. Regards! Mark

Mark, While this (and your) watch is certainly "RR Grade", I expect that with 4 Diamond Endstones and all the highly finished gold wheel train, very fancy snowflaking of the winding wheels and super damaskeeening of the plates, this is meant for the high end spender cinsumer market where actually a Pendant setting watch is a little less prone to user frustration-caused damage. I expect that a RR man would save about $20.00 by getting an equally accurate 645 or such. I do think these are quite rare as is yours too.

I'll have to say mine is one of my most ACCURATE watches I own, and a hunter cased watch to boot! Regards! Mark

What workmanship! Look at the finishing of the underside of the main plate. Only a jeweler sees that!

It is in a "Plain Jane" case right now, but who cares? What a beautiful movement.

I agree David, when looking at your photos, I never even noticed the case....that movement is beautiful....one cannot take their eyes off it.... Regards, Jerry
|
Absolutely beautiful movement! All the visual appeal that could be added has been done so. I agree that this was probably made for the high end market who wanted the reliability of a railroad grade movement but with all the bells and whistles and the ease of a pendant set watch.

I have the same configuration watch but in a Hunter. My dial is different. Picture attached. My question is this a proper dial for my watch? Thanks in advance for your help....Keith

Keith, Beautiful dial. In most instances dials became less ornate and somewhat bolder as time went on, a trend set by railroad watches. That would give me the impression that your dial may be somewhat earlier than Davids but there were always choices in dials which is also a factor to consider. Your movement number might help narrow it down further. Lindell

Hi Lin, Thanks for your reply. My serial number is 12509439.............Keith

CKJ, Mine had the scripted Waltham too which I exchanged for the better dial from a 19J Riverside. I am still desperately trying to learn how to fill the chip with the "Riddle method".
|
David, Thats not too bad a chip. I have an old tin of Swarthchild dial repair wax I would share with you if you want to try it. If you don't like the final look it is very easy to remove. I think it is a very good match.........Keith

Any estimates on how many hours went into creating that movement detail? Was that hand done?

Dave beautiful watch one of my favorites. Most all of the 16 size 23 jewel riverside Maximus were pendant set.. Keith the script dial i call it on your watch is the right dial for the Maximus watch.

Thanks guys. This movement is in a solid, heavy hunter case that stripped contains 2.9 troy oz. of 18k yellow gold and is the best buy I ever made on eBay. It was called to my attention by several guys on one of the message boards arguing that the engraving of a RR presentation was the wrong style. Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees, I bid and bought this beauty for $354.00 !!!!!!!
