21 Jewel Bunn Special "Click" to Login or Register
posted
The watch of my great uncle, A Bunn Special in apparently very nice condition, has been passed to us as a family keepsake. It is a lever set, and the movement has Serial Number 4021505, appears to have a ray pattern on the back, and has "21 Jewel", "Bunn Special", "double rolled", and "adjusted temp. and six positions" - The case backing is marked "Bunn Special", "Wadsworth" and "10K Gold". The case serial number is 7547371. The watch face has only "ILLINOIS".

1) Does anyone know the date or year of manufacture, and how to determine the size?
2) What else can you tell me about this watch that might be important?
3) Are standard criteria available to assess the condition?
4) What would be an estimated insurance value for different condidtions?

Thanks, Kevin

Hi Kevin

As Chris said it would be great to see photos, additional information from the serial number you listed is, it should be a model 9, yours was in run 4021001-4023000, there were a total of approx. 153,270 made in 140 runs between 1917-1925.

Hello Kevin and welcome to IHC185, thanks for stopping by....

As Chris and Tom have indicated, it helps a great deal to have a photo to refer to when evaluating a watch, especially a watch as special as yours....

I believe the first two questions you had have been answered but the last two are a bit difficult without a photo....

You can get some info from a publication called 'Complete Price Guide to Watches' co-written by one of our members....

You may follow this link and get additional informaiton on how to obtain the book and while you are there you may want to consider becoming a member of our club....it's only $12.00 a year....

Have a look here....Price Guide to Watches

Hope to see you around soon....

Regards,
Jerry
