posted
Hello to all

I think it is right to make a difference betweeen members and just registries of IHC 185 but how can it happen that i can answer an request (in this case West Troy NY...) and find the topic closed for members only afterwards ???. I did my work on research on an open quest and like to know am i right or not.I do not want to go to the sell--- sold corner. Close a post from the start or keep it open..

regards Gerald

I am not certain but I think what happened is that when you posted a reply to that topic it was listed under pocket watch discussions but it is actually a discussion of a ebay item & those are only discussed in the members only area Avoiding the pitfalls so I think it was moved to the appropriate area & that is why you can no longer access it.

so take the quest to the pitfall section or keep it open to the end! I can not wait with an answer to an open quest just to look if its really open or not. Quest to public or keep it covered.

And Tom it is not against you. I like your work on the forum. But how long should I wait with an answer to be sure I've done something for the public. Or other way round: if I post something how can I be sure that no one takes me off.( I read your and after registration our rules careful)

Gerald,

I see where you registered on Feb. 21, 2009 but I don't see your member number your name....I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to understand why you cannot log into 'members only' areas....have you indeed paid the anual dues...?

If you have, you should be able to go anywhere on the site and make your posts, however, if you have not then when the string you are looking for was moved to it's proper forum and if that forum is a members only forum then you will not be able to access the forum....That's just the way it's set up....

A lot of times when guests are researching our site they may not be aware totally aware of the rules and if they ask a question that is the incorrect forum it will be moved to the correct forum by a Site Administrator and that is probably what happened, as Tom correctly explained....

Regards,
Jerry

I am not member i just registered (i like to become member but it lasts a little time to deliver the check to the States) but my question was how can a question be public at start and than be members only after an answer ?. I did not want to go to the members only section. I am not a guest, I am not just looking at your forum, I gave answers to open questions and was kind of blocked afterwards.(The question came from a member not from a guest)

Hi, every now & again both dues paying members & others accidentally will post a question in regards to a current on-line auction in the wrong forum, when this is noticed by an administrator it is moved to the proper form.

So when you 1st posted your reply it was in a forum open to the public but it is a policy of the site to only discuss auction items in the avoiding pitfalls section. Later one of the administrators noticed it shouldn't be in a public forum & it was moved.

As soon as you become a full member then you will have access to that forum & all the other members only areas.

Believe me it wasn't moved for any personal reasons only that the policy requires current items at auction to be discussed there.

I enjoy your posts & I feel you have a lot to offer the site & I look forward to you becoming a full member. Just hang in there.

Debbie, Tom, Jerry

Sorry
It was a little misfortune that i did not remember that the first post was on an ebay-item. Yesterday was not my very best day. I was just curious how the story went on and after the post was closed i could not see what the fact was. Sorry for that.
On the other hand (still curious) i finally managed to bring my duty check in it´s way( little bit complicated from a small town bank in Germany but funny too 'what do you want?' and 'why ?' and five telephone calls later we found a way i hope will work). So in a fortnight those problems will be history.

Thanks for answering, sorry again and now back to our beloved watches.

Regards Gerald

No problem, I have had days like that before, so it is totally understandable.

$12.00 a year is a bargin for all you get & the great people that are here. I look forward to more of your posts & the help you have already given has been great.

Hope your days continue to improve.
