Private Labels are my interest. I normally like to buy Double marked Watches. Dial & Movt. But, A 18s Hamilton has been offered to me that would be Special because of the Town. It has a P.L. Dial and a normal Hamilton Movt. How can I determine if they belong together, Or were joined much later. Thanks Jack

Jack, if you let us know what the movement # is we may be able to check to see who the movement was originally sold to. If it turns out to be the same as the dial label then chances are it is original. Knowing the dial marking might help also. However, many times the movement would first go to an agent and then to a jeweler who would install a dial with his name. In that case there is no way to tell for sure if they belong together unless there happens to be some other documentation available.

Jack, the ledger shows that it was sold 3/8/1906 along with two other 924's to someone in Detroit. I can't make out the first name and the initial but the last name looks like Sture. I don't think that is an agent since there are none listed in Detroit.
