My latest watch find at a huge clock auction "Click" to Login or Register
posted
I bought this at a huge clock auction at a local fairgrounds thatoffered only had one small lot of watches. I had never seen a triple hinged J. Boss case before and this one I had to have as it is very near mint and quite a bargain.

The horizontal line in the back cover picture is the shoreline.

Yes David, the case had a very common Waltham 83 with a poor dial and needing at least a mainspring and I determined in todays parts market I couldn't put it in running condition at a cost that made sense, especially if I needed to take it to my watchmaker...I plead guilty to parting out the movement as the most prudent thing to do in my personal situation.....Keith

Keith, It was the prudent thing to do. It was your watch to do as you choose.
Save the case for later and let the parts go to someone who needs them. Wink

Keith,

Nice case, and that rare original case paper is great.

Keith, I totally agree with Phil about parts'ing out the movement, especially as there are some spectacular 1883 "premium" finished movements that would better deserve that case!

Thanks to all who replied to my post. The old movement has been sold and my net cost on this wonderful case is about $35.00 We all love to brag about good finds, especially when this one was snatched up in the mids of 200 clock bidders.I am attaching pictures of the case with my best movement. Before you start, I know that the case is an older vintage than the Bunn but this watch aint going nowhere but my watch pocket in my lifetime. Good hunting all!!...Keith
