Metal Dial Cleaning "Click" to Login or Register
posted
I have a size 12 Hamilton with a silver metal dial and applied gold numerals. Several of the metal numerals are tarnished and the dial is otherwise pretty.

Is there any solution I could dip the dial in to remove the tarnish? I was thinking of tarn-x. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Do not even think about cleaning a metal dial with any solution. Any printing will easily go away. The best you can do is using some Rodico as an eraser, but be careful with it.

If the dial is really bad, refinishing is not very expensive and has been discussed many times on this board.
