I picked up a 992B off ebay for just a touch over $200, runs, needs crystal and the case with the exception of a small back ding that should come out easily is brass free and shows no major wear.

It is a type 16 case, not sure how common thse are, it has a porc double sunk, heavy gothic RWS and the original hands. I am pretty sure it is not melamine since it does not have any age cracks and I can't see any of the black substrate they are attached to. The serial number is C340524 which appears to put it into the 1951 time frame.

Any comments on the case or dial would be helpful.

after note, did not think it was a melamine dial but it is.

I would expect to see the case serial number in the range of "R140xxx to R220xxx in a case #16 for that C340524 watch.

R212940 is the case serial number which put it to the later part of the range that you listed.

Here are some of the pictures

Cleaned the dial up a bit more to remove the smudges near the second hand and up near the script.
