Hi All

I need information on this movement. The name on it is Edgemere Chicago, Ill. 12jewel serial #789621 hunter style. It looks like a Seth Thomas. It has a colored dial with no name. I'm thinking it is a swiss fake? Thanks for any help.

It's a Model 9 Seth with an aftermarket dial, Keith. They are fairly common; I have an open-faced version of the same.

If you'd like to sell the movement please contact me.

Hey Eric,

You are the Seth Thomas guy, right? I just procured an old box of watch movements and there are few movements in there stamped Seth Thomas. I will put together some pictures if you are interested. -j-

Definitely interested, Jon.

This is not a Trenton.

While similar, the tip-off is the bulge cut around the pallet jewel in the upper plate (red arrow).

This is straight out of the box.

Hope it doesn't scare ya' too much

Not sure if this one is a S.T. or not. You be the judge...

In order, Jon:

18s Seth Model 5
18s Trenton
3 6s Seth hunters
18s Seth Model 8
18s Seth Model 9

Not a whole lot there, I'm afraid.

Not to get off the subject but Eric how common are 7 jewel model 5's. I honestly didnt know they made them until I was going through some of my watches to list. Serial number is 300164

Jon, the gear trains and the barrels on the 3/4-plate movements look to be mostly removed, and the Model 5 looks like it spent time underwater. If you're going to toss them then I'd catch you up on shipping; some of the screws look to be usable.

Rob, they don't come up too often. I've seen a few 7-jewel gilt Model 5 movements, but so far none with nickel plates. Whattaya got?

These movements were listed in the old (reproduction) Sears & Roebuck catalog from the early 1900's several different models. Jeff

Interesting; an outboard regulator whip, but no gooseneck. I've never seen one; thanks for sharing. Smile
