Elgin made 4 runs of 1000 for the grade 375 which is normally marked Veritas and just 2 jewels below the 23j grade 376. For whatever reason Elgin decided to at least do a portion, if not all of the final 4th run and mark them "Father Time". I have one that is in beautiful shape but as I was scanning through Ebay I noticed that a Father Time that was ending soon, not running, dial not perfect in a base metal case for about $80. I looked at it and thought that is not a normal Father Time so I did a quick look and put a bid on it and got if for less than $85 total. The listing was poorly done and even a non-running Veritas grade unless it is totally butchered should pull more than $175. It said non-running but there were no missing parts and that might mean a staff or mainspring is needed but I will post pictures when it arrives. 1917 Elgin Sales ad with the 375 in upper righ with the Veritas 23j | |||
