Just a little shot on my latest pick from ebay. A nice looking 948. As you may know there were only 1500 made of this grade. This seemed like a clean movement. I cleaned it, and had it restaffed and it is running now. This is not a good case, but merely a movement holder quality brassy one. As always, comments are welcome, both good, and bad.

#3, a reasonably scratch free movement.

I believe these were made for a dwindling market in the Interurban Electric Era

Yes, an uncommon grade from 1910-1920, the twilight of of 18 size watches.

I find the spots on the regulator somewhat distracting. You might want to consider polishing those off.

Best Regards,

Ed

Mike,

Nice find...

I am guessing the 24hour hands would not go with the Monty dial

Signed grades are always nice to find, now if we just knew how many were signed and unsigned for sure Smile

I am somewhat confused by the hands/dial combination. Typically when you get something odd it has been pieced together by a speculator to resell. This came from the 'bay and the seller was not a watch guy. I now have two 948s and will sell one of them sometime soon. This one does have a dial foot missing as well. I felt fortunate to get this one but agree that the regulator corrosin is distracting. Is it better to try and polish it? And, if so, with what?
