Guys, The local jewelry store has a 26 jewel penn special that I am interested in. I don't have any pictues but the movement is not running, but looks good, seems like the mainspring is broken. The dial has a few hairlines, nothing too bad. The case has a lot of brass showing. Serial #1742808. Would someone give me a ballpark figure so that I could make an offer, and if possible post pictues of a correct dial and hands. Thanks Gary

The couple I found sold by Jones Horan brought $7,200 & $9,500. The pictures would not come up on the $9,500 one so I could not tell how nice it was. The $7,200 one looked to be very nice and only had fine hairlines in the dial, they would be hard to see. The serial numbers were 1,742,810 and 1,742,854. The dial should be a gothic style (like the 18s bunn specials have" only with the words "Pennsylvania Special" in the middle, not "Illinois Watch Co.". If it doesn't have a pennsylvania special dial on it, the price it would be worth would be hurt by a lot.
I think it's one of those watches that it depends on the day and whos there and wants it. Its a lot of money to put out for one watch, but at the same time the chances of buying one are about once in a lifetime too.
Thanks,
Jared

Thanks Jared, I done a little search and the pictures that I found are like this watch. The dial and hands look to be original. I offered him twice what he payed for the watch, and he laughed and said he probably could'nt do that, so we will see. Thanks so much
