Just wanted to say thanks to Tom Brown and everyone's encouraging words offered to a watch newbie... It took apart the working Waltham Tom sent me and reassembled it... and it still runs! YAY! I've attached photographic proof below. If you look closely at the last picture, I'm pretty sure you can hear me yelling for joy! Only had trouble with the plate that covers four wheels... took about an hour of trial and error. And at the end, I had not tighted then balance cock screw all the way down and it was hanging up after a few anemic turns. That screw was less than 1/8th turn from tight, but that was enough to bind the balance... I did not take the mainspring out of the barrel, as I still don't have a winder, plus.... mainsprings are still vodoo to me. Black magic, I tell ya'! Sheila.... I think it's your turn! --Mike

i have built many watches and i still think its cool when you set that balance wheel in and it takes off even before you set the bridge down.

Congrats Mike-Feels REAL good, huh? It gives you a whole new perspective and opens up all types of questions, doesn't it? And I haven't forgotten about "what's her name" giving it a try,either...SHEILA! Please don't take me seriously,Sheila-you take baby steps and remove a screw here and a bridge there-until you feel confident.I only want to encourage, not bully. You'll know when you're ready, and now there's one more person offering encouragement...Like I said before, we can pick up the pieces if things get tough,OK? Marty
