The town I live in has about 4 antique/2nd hand stores. In at least 10 years of going in them every 2 weeks or so the only pocket watches are in one shop & they have had the same four watches that they want about 400% above what they are worth.

Well today I went to look again & in one shop that I have bought several other things from I mentioned to them again that they need to find me some watches. As I wondered through the shop I spotted a pocket watch in a cabinet when I asked to see it they said they forgot they had it.

When I 1st saw it without asking them, I knew I was going to take it. I could see their price of $45.00 & could easily sell that the watch was a Hamilton in a BOC case.

So here are a few photos as I found it, it does have two problems that I hav found, the balance staff is broken & the regulator spring is gone.

The dial & hands are perfect & I am guessing this is what is referred to as a two tone type 3 BOC case in the 2008 guide.

I just had to show this off to someone.

I second the recommendation to send this to Chris. His uncanny restoration work added to your initial investment will triple your return on vested value.

Well you never know! I have the balance staff ordered along with the regulator spring, so I hope to have this up & running in a week or so. The bow on the case is so stiff you would think it was new.

Hi Tom:
Congratulations! It's great to know that great "finds" are still "out there!" I second the motion to send it to Chris Abell. He restored a Ball-Hamilton 999B for me in December. The watch keeps better than RR time! He does GREAT WORK!
Cheers!
