Scarce 21 Jewel Sangamo Special Variant "Click" to Login or Register

Just got this in, and wanted to show it to the Illinois people (and everyone else of course)

This was part of the last run of 21 Jewel Model 9 Sangamo Specials in 1918 #3251199.

Only one run of 400 was marked this way. This is #199 of that 400 (3251001-3251400)

Notice it has "double roller" fully spelled out under the balance wheel instead of the usual "D.R." under the bridge as the others.

Also it is red enameled lettering instead of gold.

Pretty neat piece of Illinois history, just wanted to show it.

Tom,

Also interesting was the fact that the majority of these model 9's, about 2400 of them, were made between 1913-1915 and then 3 years later in 1918 a single run of 400 with these special Double Roller markings were made. An interesting and beautiful time piece there, thanks for sharing it.

Great watch! I have a soft spot for these particular model 9 Sangamo Specials. This one has the two screws facing down to hold the balance jewel. Interesting because they started production in 1913 this way. Then changed to "screws up" and then back again for this last run? Roll Eyes You can see other samples and variants in the IHC185 Illinois Watch Company Research Forum.
