I have this 18s Hampden that I put into a Champion case. The watch movement is unusual in that it is marked Springfield, Mass. I realize this was from an early part of the Hampden history. The case is not original to the movement, but it is in very good condition. I'm thinking of selling this but wonder if the case should be sold separately. 18s cases are in demand but I don't know if this movement is. Someone here will know!

As to $$$, since it didn't come in the case, the most money will probably be in separate sales. The case will bring what most would pay for the two together.
If the case is nice, try selling/auctioning it on IHC185 and it will find a new home without those pesky & substantial Ebay fees

Thank you for these photos on this case. I have a couple Champion cases and could never figure out the quality... I thought they were quite a bit thinner than a 20 year case.
If the art work is crisp and no visible dents on the outer covers, hinges and latches work well... the case might surprise you on a solo sale.
They are really hard to come by in well above average condition.

I had the case for a long time and then put this in it. My understanding is that the Springfield, Mass marking somehow makes it desirable, but who knows? I agree however, the $$ is in the case.

Mike, The Springfield marking is not common but not rare either in my opinion (that answer makes me a potential politician). The city of Springfield is located in Hampden county Mass and thus the name Hampden. I would sell the case seperately as I agree with Buster, and of course the case paper is a nice extra for many people.
