I just had a phone call on a Illinois 163. It turned out to be a 163 IR serial #5321839. Lindell, you may want to add this to the data base. Now I will wait & see if she accepts my offer or not. Best, Jim | |||

Thanks a million Jim, For those unfamiliar with the various Illinois 163 variants the "Type I R" means the 163 marking is to the left of "Motor Barrel and 23-Jewels" rather than to the right which on other variants is essentially centered on the movement. The Type I R is also a non-Elinvar and this is important, only about 850 were produced. Information on these and many other Illinois variants is in the IHC185 Illinois Watch Company Research Forum and specifically listed in our Bunn Special 163, 163-E and 163-A "The Seven Stars" Database Lindell Here is a 163 "Type I R" number 5321488 from my collection...  | |||
