Question about by repeater pocket watch by Ed Koehn
This watch has just been serviced by Steven Hale Watch Restoration LTD in London England. It is approximately 85 years old and is running perfectly. It was a gift from my Grandfather to one of his six sons in the early 1930s. It was given to me in 1969 by my uncle, and I do not have an heir that is interested in owning the watch, so I am preparing to sell it. I do not know of anyone in the Austin area who is knowledgeable enough to give me a good appraisal. My question is does anyone have an idea as to value? Or can anyone direct me to a good appraiser of antique repeater pocket watches.

Please post photos of the movement and the inside of the back cover and the inside of the inner cover if there is one, and I and likely others will estimate its value. Collectors are likely to have a better feel for that than most Jewelers appraisers, who tend to estimate values too highly.

Without knowing more about your watch, I can tell you this: if it is in good running order, has no material issues other than the dial and bow, and has a good quality 18k case, it is probably worth $3-4,000. The damaged dial really hurts the value of the watch. The bow may be ok but it looks to be a different color than the case, which would mean that it is a replacement bow. Without question these two issues, the watch would probably be worth $4-5,000.

Robert - You might consider contacting Chris at Chris Abell Watchmakers in Tyler, Texas. He is a fine member of IHC185.

His website is www.Abellwatchmakers.com
