You have a beautiful watch, Mike....I really like the damaskeening of the movement.... You are correct, the case is super and the combination is something you can be proud of for years to come.... How long have you had the watch...? Just wondering is all.... Regards, Jerry

Yeah, it's too bad on a number of accounts.... At one time a lot of the smaller towns in California was used as 'sets'....Niles, Monrovia, Porter Ranch, Calabasas, Sonora just to name a few....Then Hollywood started to going outside the country because of taxes and we started to lose that industry altogether.... Of course when that happens the smaller 'Mom & Pop' businesses seem to disapear as well.... That is what 'They' call progress.... Regards, Jerry

Mike, I'd suggest you run the serial number though the Waltham database in the technical library section and get the production date. The 16S Vanguard started before the factory cased era, but I'm sure the later ones would have been factory cased. Not sure of the cutoff date on availability of Vanguards as movement only. Perhaps one of our Waltham collectors can give us some specifics on that. This style of case (basket bow) would have been available circa 1895-1920 or perhaps even longer at a small rural jeweler. Best Regards, Ed
