I have not seen many of these, and this is a great view. I had thought of making a case like this for some of my smaller watches, using veneer, but I thought it may be too thin and bend too easily.

I would immagine that it's just wood with no material inside of it, like some I have seen???

I do like the entire case, it has beautiful wood, and what a wonderful storage for those crystals.
