Neighbor lady had some questions regarding this little Lady Waltham which I could not answer except for the fact that the balance staff appeared to be broken which is why it wouldn't work. I know nothing about Walthams so I hope some of you experts out there could tell me the jewels, production date, and maybe the number produced as well as what it might be worth in running condition.

It's in a fairly decent Fahys Monarch No. 1 gold filled case.

They are nice little watches, 16jewels, and 6 size. Yours was made around 1903. Most folks that collect these, want them in a 14-18K solid gold case. regards, bb

Steve, according to Ehrhardt's "Volume 1, Encyclopedia and Price Guide, p.70, there were 53,000 serial numbers assigned to the 1890 Model, 6s, 16j Adjusted, HC "Lady Waltham". The total of all 1890 models produced was 1,632,209, so you could sdvise your neighbor friend that only 3% of those made were this high grade.

Steve, while all the above is true here is a little more data specific to your neighbor's watch....It is a Model 1890, Grade-Lady W, while there is no specific production date for this specific watch, the first one was made 12/1/1898 and the last one was 10/31/1902.... There were 24 runs during this time and and total of 13,130 units were made, this one was made in a run of 500.... So using the 1% method there may be a hundred or so in existence today....and from the looks of things in your photos, I would say this is an original configuration.... Certainly worth restoring....and yes it is a size 6, 16 jewel Regards, Jerry
