Cover of October 1912 Locomotive Engineers Journal showing a scene from the Boston and Maine Railroad this was on the front cover of the Journal from January 1907 to December 1915, for nine years, when it was replaced with a view of the newly constructed Locomotive Engineers Building in Cleveland.

Advertisement from the back cover of the Journal, this is one of four advertisements it shows an A Lincoln watch fob, and asks Locomotive Engineers to write in for a free medal and a descriptive folder on these pocket watches.

Lincoln Watch fob’s, that are 1 ¼ inches in diameter, with a profile of President, his name and the year of his birth and death. Inscribed on the back in capital letters is “Illinois / Watch Company / Springfield / Makers of the / A. Lincoln / Watch”. Also my 3 inch in diameter high school student essay contest medallion that were given out on Abraham Lincoln’s birthday on February 12 the President’s birthday to the senior high school student for the best essay this started in 1924 and ended in 1928 when the Illinois Watch Co. was bought by the Hamilton Watch Co. of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
This one is blank and was never awarded.

Both the watch fob and medallion were manufactured by the Whitehead and Hoag Co. of Newark, New Jersey makers of union made ribbons, medals, convention badges, medallions, and regalia.
