Need help with odd Waltham movement "Click" to Login or Register

This 16s Waltham looks to be a model 1872. But the regulator seems to be an odd one. I can't find one with the F & S engraved on the plate like this. it is marked Woerd's Pat' under the balance wheel. Serial number 1392854 dates it from 1879. It is housed is a large 53mm. 18k A.W. Co case. Before I list it I just want to make sure it is listed correctly. This just strikes me to be something different, maybe not... Thanks, Jim

The 2007 Cooksey Shugart Price guide shows this movement of page 125. Looks correct to me.

There is a 14 size listed on page 140 of the 2009 Price Guide To Watches,by Shugart. It shows a model 1874 and 1884. I would guess this is your watch.

James,
You have a watch with a crooked tail tadpole regulator, which is common on some 1872 Walthams. The only pic I could come up with for a similar watch appears to be the same as yours.
As far as Woerd's pat, it is not a Woerd's Pat balance. It might have a Woerd's winding mechanism.
Here is a pic of a stem set/wind Woerd's Pat winding mechanism.

Hello all,
Thanks. Ed, I knew it wasn't a Woerd's Pat balance, I wish it was. It was the crooked tail tadpole regulator that was throwing me off. I haven't owned one that I can remember. Cecil, I know it is a 16s not a 14s & I was sure it as a 1872 & my Meggar's Waltham book confirmed this with the serial number. Thanks, Jim

As your's is a Hunter Movement, the Crooked Tail tadpole could be an accomodation of the reversed Balance Cock.
