Hi, I need some help identifying a 16 size watch. Please see enclosed pictures. The dial is not mark with any name as well as the movement. The serial numbers on both the movement and the case are the same #88008 The movement is marked by the balance Switzerland, and adjusted by the center jewel. The case is a BWC Co Warranted 14k US Assay Sr#88008 In the 2008 Complete guide to watch on page 57 it shows a Petek Philippe regulator which is very close to the one on it.

How uncommon is it for both the case and the movemnet to have the same serial number.

Any help would be appreciated.

Leon,

As I understand it, when a swiss watch is mfg and cased in Switzerland, it is quite common for the serial numbers to match, particuarly on the gold and silver watches.

If the mvmt were imported and cased in the US than of course one would not expect the serial numbers to match.

Sorry, I can't help you on the maker, the only swiss company that I am familiar with is Le Phare or its predecessor, Barbezat-Baillot.

I can't help either with the maker except to say I have seen Agassiz & Longines with a similar regulator.

There may be a makers name on the main plate under the dial.

The condition of the watch is so good, that I would recommend it be inspected by someone very qualified to work on these swiss watches.

Even trying to remove the movement from the case incorrectly can damage it.

I believe it's a Swiss Longines imported to the US by the Standard Watch Co. Sold one some months ago with the exact regulator....

Leon,
I would guess that the case was made by the Brooklyn Watch Case Co. with those marks, and it is indeed unusual for both of them to have the same serial number! WOW!

It's a really nice looking watch too!
