Attleboro Mass, located about 40 miles south of Waltham Mass. BATES & BACON formed in 1857 under the name of Skinner, Viall & Company. In 1858 the name was changed to Bates, Capron & Williams, but two years later the senior member of the concern sold his interests and began business in his own name, taking George M. Bacon into partnership in 1867, and operating as Bates & Bacon. The firm engaged in the production of rolled gold plated bracelets. In 1882 the production of watch cases was added, the company being the first Attleboro unit to engage in this line. How cool was it to land a chain that traces back to the same location and era of the pocket watches I've been collecting. Anyone out there have a Bates and Bacon watch case?

Paul, what size case are you looking for? Lever or pendant? I do have a number of cases and cased watches with B&B cases. Deacon

Mr. Deacon, I hadn't given that much thought yet. I got caught up in the history lesson. I didn't realize that B&B was the signature for Bates and Bacon. At the moment, I'm all cased up. However, I do like to keep cases on hand. I am particularly fond of swing cases, 18 or 16. Followed by the early heavy screw cases. Non-RR, not smooth, no ivy, flowers, trains or elk. But something with a bit of testosterone I reckon. Is this a case that will be happy with anything that fits? Or is there an affiliation similar to Crescent-Waltham or Dueber-Hampden??? Thanks for asking, Pault
