992 "extra" questions "Click" to Login or Register
posted
I just acquired this unusual 992 movement...tu-tone, marked EXTRA, serial# 703213, no 992 marking, adjusted 5 positions...I haven't found much info on the 992 extra...anyone out there know this movement? I also would like to know if the dial and hands are correct?

Hands are correct the dial is not correct, I have 2 992 Extras, I have only seen 5 or 6 ever so they are not very common.

Thanks George....what type of HAM dial would be appropriate, an early 3 foot 992 dial? Are all "extras" the same color and pattern of tu-tone?

I believe that will be a 4 ft dial Dennis.

Here is a link that talks about some of the different 992 Extra's that may help you.

Here is a really nice one Dennis.

992 Extra

Also, look under the serial number and see if there is an extra number there.

Larry

Yes, that one was a beauty! But it was a 992 SPECIAL not an extra and I see no numbers scratched on mine. I would bet there are no production numbers documented anywhere for the "extra" so how does one establish a market value? The "Price Book" has a value for it but how was it attained? I've been collecting for 10 years and I haven't seen any for sale before this one. The book does give it a one star rarity but it seems to me it deserves more stars than that and a higher value...
