Is this book worth getting? I don't have this book and I don't know if this is the most current edition. I have seen the authors name pop up every now and then. It is $40 with free shipping.

Harry, Roy Ehrhardt was a most prolific Collector/Researcher/Publisher of many collectibles. His 20 volume contribution to Pocket watches was phenomenal! The most valuable being Volumes I, II and III which hold an incredible mass of data on all American Pocket watches. Then there is his "Gold Book which is the most inclusive record of movement designs and named watches available to us today.
The book you refer to is a recent publication by someone who has tried to condense his works into a single volume with a most interesting postlude.
If you have no Ehrhardt works, this could be at least a taste of what you should be looking for.

I consider getting the book off ebay but never had done so. I have many but not all of Roy E's books, they come in handy many times. Keep and eye out for them on ebay, don't over pay but as Dave said they are good.

I bought the "beginning to end" book and was disappointed.
IMHO you'd do better to get recent editions of the originals. A friend of Roy's bought up the rights to the books from his heirs and is republishing them.
Best Regards,
Ed

I'm on my way. Here are the 3 books I ordered last night. 1) Price guide to Col. George E. Townsend's 4-books on American pocket watches [Paperback] by Roy Ehrhardt 2) Foreign & American Pocket Watch Identification & Price Guide [Paperback] by Roy Ehrhardt and 3) American Pocket Watch Identification and Price Guide, Book 2 [Spiral-bound] Ray Ehrhardt
I will continue to collect the others also.
