Do you really know how to use your calipers? Are you aware that the ends are different for a reason?
Are you aware of the difference in sizes? Did you know that properly set they can be used as a poising tool to some extent?

Set loose enough on the pivots it will allow the heavy part to go to the bottom and give you an idea of the heavy side. It is not a poising tool and should not be substituted as one. But it will let you know if you need to balance the wheel.
Notice in the photo of the caliper inserts A & B. A allows the staff the rest on the pivot ends and B allows the ends to be free and rests on the cone of the staff.
