Elgin 16s Grade 575 Gift - Dumpster Save "Click" to Login or Register

A lady at my church who sings in choir with me gave me her uncles watch. She was happy to find a home for it as her children didn't value it and would through it into a dumpster. She brought it to choir practice the other night. I am delighted with it but know very little about it other than what I found on the Elgin look-up database. It is a grade 575 made in 1949.

Here is a photo of the dial:

Hey Ernie, it probably will make a nice carry watch since it has the DuraPower Mainspring and the dial looks like a nice Montgomery dial....the pics are a little fuzzy though....
All in all I would say it nice to save it from the dumpster....

Regards,
Jerry

I have a VERY hard used 575 that I carry as a 'yard' watch due to its condition....though it WAS given a COA by Chris a year or more ago and given a clean bill of health, considering it's shape.

Ironically, it's one of the most accurate watches I own. I NEVER have to reset it, and keep it wound at all times and hanging on a watch hook in 'ready conditon'.

You'll be surprised. Get it cleaned, and it will serve you well! Mine does.

Regards! Mark
