I usually don't pay much attention to the "typical" BWR watches. This example, however caught my eye as it was a model 9 3f bridge. I have seen lots of the grade 280, but never this B.W Raymond version.

I have observed several 280 in the lower serial # ranges, but how many are marked BWR, was this random or did they mark blocks of them as 280 or BWR?

I had previously read the posts you recommend, however these posts do not seem to offer any info relating to the production quantities of the actual BWR marked 280 movements.

What methods of research would you recommend to determine/hypothesize the actual production Qty's of the BWR marked 280 movements?

I took a quick look at both the database that Kent Singer & I maintain and at Wayne Schlitt's Elgin site. From the combined data, it appears that only the last run, 10,855,XXX was marked "B. W. Raymond". The other four runs, totalling 7,000 movements were either marked "280" or had no grade name or number engraved.

There were 1000. If you go to Wayne's Elgin site and in the search you type

G=280

(Also notice that in the last row it shows the BWR Grade 280 as 1000)as Ed said they started at 10855001

G=280 you will see this.

Thank you very much for the additional info. I had only used wayne's site as a serial # look-up which does not break out the last run of the 280's

When I searched the Grade 280, it of course does show the individual runs of the 280/BWR....I learn something new everyday.

I will from now on, use serial # and actual grade type when using Wayne's site.
