I have one that says Hamilton on the dial, and the movement looks like a Hamilton movement. Serial number 1094917. It says "Peerless, 17 jewels, adjusted. Is it a Hamilton?Peerless

It's a pendant set Hamilton 974 made in 1914. Peerless is most likely a private label name. Best Regards, Ed

Thanks Ed! I never thought of the private label. I have a 996 in the very same case and the plates on this one all looked like a 974. Thanks again. Regards, Larry

The Gold book lists the "Peerless" name as used by some $ watch makers, and numerous variations of Rockford, Illinois and Trenton. The addition of a few Hamilton "Peerless" marked movements makes that even more interesting. Some of the Illinois "Peerless" were made around 1882 for Charles Wendell, Chicago, so whoever has the Hamilton sales logs could check to see if this "Peerless" was for Mr. Wendell as well.
