Below are pictures of the 12 size 23j Illinois Grade 416. Only one run of 100 is known. The serial number block runs from 3,188,801 to 900.

Does anyone else own a 416 and would be willing to provide serial numbers etc? And does anyone have a picture of a 410 mvt for comparision?

The Illinois Watch Co Encyclopedia and Price Guide describes the 416 as being visually identical to 12 size Grade 410 except the number of adjustments is spelled out (six) where on the 410 it written as a number (6).

I now own two of these watches-one with a serial number in the middle of the run and the other serial number is towards the end.

Both are in plain 14kt Solidarty cases( one green gold and the other regular gold color),have the same Brequet moon hands and the dials look similar. One dial is a metal gold colored dial with simulated double sunk look and the other pictured here is a white porcelain dial.

Speculation was raised why these watches were given a separate grade number. My hypothesis is that these watches were a special order and thus given a separate grade number.

Bob
PS I paid less than $600 what would a similar RR go for?

Bob - here is the 410 you should compare the 416 to. >LINK<
Both are the earlier Jeweled Barrel version which do not have the barrel jewels visible.

Have you Guys got any more serial numbers or information from the run 4,209,001 - 4,210,000.
The first movements in this run are jeweled barrel and the later are motor barrel.
