Tom BrownThe jeweler that sold both of those Central City private labels was Henry J. Howe a jeweler in Syracuse. He was born about 1840 in New York. He is listed as a jeweler there in 1866 and I find him there up to 1910. If you are interested.

Edward KitnerI have a very nice Hamilton 978, Henry J. Howe. He was one of only 6 agents for Hamilton watches in New York state.

Jon Hart"The 1860 US census lists Henry J. Howe as a 20 year old jeweler. He is listed in the 1870, 1880, 1890, 1900 and 1910 census. Most of the census list him living on East Jefferson street Syracuse with a wife and two sons."
"Henry J. Howe enlisted on Aug. 24, 1861 at Vesper, N.Y., mustered in as a private, Oneida Independent company, Cavalry in September of 1861. He served three years and mustered out in September of 1864."
