About a week ago I was working on a Hamilton balance taking off the hairspring, taking out the jewels to clean them up, etc.
When I was reassembling the balance I had my normal problems with getting the hairspring stud back in to the clamp. I have tried it right side up, up side down, all with the same results I normally have, FRUSTRATION! I normally lay it on a piece of Rodico for part of the operation. The other part it sits on a balance stand.
I needed something to hold the balance so it didn't move and I could put pressure on it when needed.
This is what I came up with. It is not the complete answer, but a step in the right direction I believe.
