Interesting Dual Time Concept Listed for sale, see link "Click" to Login or Register

I bought a couple of watches today needing some TLC. I really never have seen anything like this one. I photographed it as I removed it from the case so I'll have a record of how it was before I tore it apart. You'll get the idea.

It took me some time to figure out that this is an old 2 time zone concept. It has two chapters for time and two canon pinions and such. Only the one seconds register. I don't know if it originally had more hands but if you think about it, the one side needs a minute hand but the other really only needs an hour hand!
Now listed if you are interested.

As you can see it is Swiss, or, Not American, and is key wind/ key set.

I believe this is a cylinder escapement? Here is the balance. This thing was/is really dirty. Also looks to be low jewel count.

The dial side of the movement. Its roughly in the 18ish size category, maybe closer to 17s.
the case is hunter style and is brass. I'll photo it later. Any opinions expert or otherwise?

Mike I think that is called a "captain's" watch for lack of a better term. Most that I have seen came with dual hour zones run off a single train.

Neat watch for sure !!

This was indeed referred to as a "Captain's Watch" and what you have is a fairly inexpensive 19th century version intended for carry. The higher jeweled grades were very accurate movements and are very collectible.

Looking at the dial side picture it looks to me like there would have originally been another hand, although like you said it isn't really needed.

Thanks for your comments. I will post photos of the finished watch when I get it done. Not sure if I have another hand to fit on for the minutes but I'm sure if I don't have one someone will.
