Mike, just about the time this watch was finished and shipped to Duluth, Minnesota, James J Hill had completed a Rail line from Duluth south and west to connect his Great Northern Railway to his own Great Lakes Freighters that skipped Chicago and for a much lower cost per ton carried all sorts of cargo needed for the expanding mid and north west USA and south western Canada. (via his Winnipeg connection.)
Each returning train brought back vast quantities of Lumber, Nickel, Copper, Iron Ore, Grain and Cattle from these same growing lands. If you want to read one of greatest "Rags to Riches" stories about a magnificent Man, it is his Biography.

The store is still in business today, re-named Bagley & Co. It was founded in 1885. You might get a good price from tham as a very important piece of their history! More can be seen at the link;
The owner of the shop was thankful for sharing this watch with him. He indicated he has several examples in his collection so isn't really interested. I know we have PL collectors so if anyone wants it let me know and we can deal. I'm not ACTIVELY trying to sell at this time, but would consider if there's an interest.

I have a 936 PL (E. Gundlach & Co., Hartford, Conn., movement #637612). It would be nice to have a PL 937 to go with it. Let me know if you plan to sell.
Best Regards,
Ed

Right now I am in the process of safely heading back to Oregon. I leave tomorrow and since I pull a 34 foot 5th wheel I watch wind conditions cafefully. When I get home I'll think of putting this up for sale and will contact both of you. For now I will concentrate on the more important move

Thanks Jerry. There are wind advisories out for several of the days we will be traveling. I plan to stop and "lay over" for the weekend and then it should be fine.
