Bulent,
Welcome!

We can help, if you can tell us the serial number on the movement, where the gears are, or show us a photo of the movement.

Hi Bulent, There is an Elgin data base that you can use to research the serial number at;

http://elginwatches.org/databases/elgin_sn_intro.html

for your watch it reports;

Serial Number SN Range Quanty Name Year grade size code jewels Adj/reg/etc.
-------------- -------- ------ ---- ---- ----- ---- ------ ------ ------------
10540830 10539001 3000 1903 212 16s h3g6p 7j

grade total runs first yr last yr class size code jewels Adj/name
----- ----- ----- -------- ------- ----- ---- ------ ------ ----------
212 66000 34 1899 1903 92 16s h3g6p 7j

Class 92: 16s HC 3/4 pend model 6
210 178000 made 7j
212 66000 made 7j gilded
220 36000 made 15j
257 5000 made 15j ?

Your watch is a Grade 212, Gilded Model 6 Hunter Movement. Elgin manufactured 66,000 from 1899 through 1903. Yours was part of a 3,000 piece run in 1903 which was the last year this type was made.

Also your movement looks like the third wheel has been "swiss Jeweled" for repair of the pivot hole. If that is true it is an "8" jewel movement now.

The extra hour hand must have been added at the request of the watch owner who may have been a traveling businessman needing that "extra hour" for the changing time zones. 17+ Jewel adjusted Railroad watches sometimes had that too.

The case it is in is very fine and is worth equally as much as the movement.

I personally like the appearance of the Gilded Movement and in that fine case, it should make a nice looking "carry watch".

Thank you David. Elgin data base address is on my desktop. I am using it.

Thank you for the information. This second hour hand is not adjustable. Just the hand is modified.

It is for sale at Ebay. Actual value is $365 with zero bid.
