#14225279 This scarcer grade 370 17 Jewel BW Raymond was produced 2 YEARS ONLY...1909-1910 This is the 279th Grade 370 watch made in the first run. Only 7300 were produced in those two years. Unique in the fact that it was the first 16S Elgin with the Railroad Regulator. ALSO the first 16S Motor Barrel Elgin. Marked Adjusted and 5 Positions, and accepted on any railroad in 1909 as it met ALL requirements So if anyone ever tells you there are no fully RR Approved 17 Jewel watches, here's one that proves them wrong. Looking much the same as it did after a long run in 1909.

Nice BWR Tom!, I have one like it, #15502532,it's the only Elgin I have that has meantime screws in the balance, unusual for an older Elgin.I think 17-19J railroads make a nice collection. Thanks for showing it...Ted.

The 370 was warranted to meet all RR specs at the time. This is Elgin's 16s version of the 18 size Veritas types and all had the safety motor barrel design. The 370 did not have a hunter mate but the 19j and 21j version did. There are some slight variations but all are adj5p all are lever sets except if there was a boo boo like one pendant set I have. Well worth picking one up since they are very high grade movements for a 17j movement. The 37x family goes as such 370 OF 17j BWR, 371 HC 19j BWR, 372 OF 19j OF, 373 21j HC FT, 374 21j OF FT, 375 21j OF Ver, 376 23j OF Ver. There were some of the 375 marked FT and are rarer than the Veritas marked 375s.
