Can't find any info on a BECHTLER pocket watch...Need Help! "Click" to Login or Register

Hello. Doing some research on a Bechtler Pocket Watch and have searched the internet for weeks and can't seem to find anything about one (and there is no info on one in any pocket watch books or price guides I have purchased). I know Bechtler gold coins are worth thousands and thousands of dollars and am curious what a 14k gold Bechtler Pocket Watch would be worth?? I have nothing to compare it to as far as any other Bechtler watches that have sold (that were made of gold). Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your assistance!

Andy, Thanks for the helpful info....I actually found more info on that one last night after you alerted me on it and the auction ended for $2,948.16 ....and that was just a plain pocket watch (non-gold). I have the opportunity to purchase the watch from a relative of mine for a price we already agreed upon and I wanted to make sure it was worth it and apparently it certainly is! I can get pics as soon as I get the watch from him. I did have the opportunity to open up the watch and there is also an inscription which makes this watch worth a mint, especially to anyone from INDIA or anyone who collects historical artifacts from India and Rulers/Kings!

Hi

Bechtler watches are private label watches sold by

'j. C. Bechtler and Som' or 'J.C.Bechtler Son and Co' Jewelers at Allahabad and Mussoorie, India.

The walue of such a watch depends on the wachmaker (the brand) and ther rarity of the model, the material, weight and condition of the case and lastly on the name of the jeweler or retailer of the watch.

Bechtlers sold watches of different makers (american and european) of different qualities.
Please show pictures of the watch and we could find you some comparable examples for validation.

The referenced auction example was a watch in an unusual gun-metal case, a rare early wristwatch quarter hour repeater watch with some military background and has a high given value even without the name Bechtler!

Regards
Gerald

Hello Gerald. Thanks so much for the helpful info on the Bechtler. I am picking it up along with several others tomorrow and will get some good pictures of them. I do know that the watch was given by the ruler/king of Sirmoor in 1913 according to the inscription. I will give more details when I take a good look at it. Thank again!
