Bruce ByrdWaltham Crescent St model 1892 Question
Waltham Crescent St model 1892 Question
I bought this a couple of years ago and stuck it in my desk drawer (had a bad mainspring). I ran the serial number and it came back as a 21j... It's actually marked 19j. Can someone with Waltham info tell me if this was at the beginning of a 21j run? Just curious cause I'm thinking about puttin this on up for sale.. Don't want to mislead folks...

Donald TrumbleBruce,
If your information came from one of those more often than not unreliable internet lookup

sites, what you may have is a 19-Jewel movement produced as part of a nominally 21-Jewel run. Lindell often points out that mixed runs were very common throughout the watch industry. Robert is right, we need the movement number.
From the movement number we can check the Waltham book which is usually the most reliable source for information.

Bruce, here is a link to a 19J Crescent Street page on a website devoted exclusively to the
model 1892. It shows that your sn is part of a 19J run.
