Dutch pocket watch "Click" to Login or Register

I hope someone can enlighten me on an old pocket watch.
There is no cover over the face but there is one over the back of the watch. On the inside of the cover is the following inscription:
Joh.F.Beekman
30289
Rotterdam
Ancre Ligre Droit
rubis
Spiral Breguet

On the back of the watch is the following
Souvener
aan
het Hoofd der School
H.A.Vermeulen
aangelodendor
de Gemeente Groot Ammers
1854 Januari 1893
K18 30289
The watch has Ruman Numeral numbers and in the 6:00 position is a small circle with a sweep second.
Can any one tell me who made the watch and how I can tell if it was made in 1893.
Thank you

John Thomassen

Hi John !

Welcome to the IHC 185!

From the desccription of the writing of your watch i would translate and interpret:

The watch is a swiss made watch about 1890 with a swiss lever escapement (straight lever) in a 18K gold case.
The watch was made for John F Beekman of Rotterdam (jeweler)

The watch was given as a present our souvenir to Mr. H.A. Vermeulen ,principal or headmaster of the school in Groot Ammers, a village near Rotterdam. He was working there from 1854 to jan 1893 (I think the watch was given on occasion of his retirement).

Regards
Gerald
