Was wondering if the gold balance screws are solid gold or gold filled..Found these in a tin the other day..Not sure what they fit but are either Hamilton or Illinois..A little over 5 grams..

Gold Balance screws (to work at all) are harder low Gold content 8 - 10K. Either way they are worth more as screws.

5 grams of 10K= $73. and change. Great call David worth quite a bit more as "screws" than melt value.

regards,
bb

Don't worry fellows I would never melt them.. I was just wondering if they were solid gold or not..I was thinking I read the other day that someone had mentioned heavy gold plated balance screws and I had always thought they were solid lower karat gold..Just trying to double check my thinking on them..Anyway they are just to pretty to destroy ...Gary

If you are going to put them on the market Gary I'll take them as I have a very nice weigher for balance screws to sort the weights of each individual piece. Wink
